There are thousands of drugstore foundations out
there and while I have not tried them all I have tried a great number of
them. I have a video on my YouTube
channel regarding my collection of drugstore foundations. Since then I have added four additional products
to my tried list, yet I keep going back to this drugstore foundation.
Before I explain why, let me give you some
background information about my skin I have: Oily / Combination skin (warm
months oily (really oily) & combination in the winter); acne pruned skin; hyper-pigmentation facial scars and large pores. Because of
the facial scars (hyper-pigmentation) I like to use full coverage
foundation. I just like the appearance
of smooth clear skin and medium coverage foundation just doesn't do it. Problem is many drugstore foundations are either
sheer to medium coverage or clam to be buildable coverage (advertisement talk
for medium to cake face) but are really just medium. Those that say full are more like medium
plus, meaning more than medium but not quite full (my definition of makeup
coverage).
Maybelline Superstay is a medium plus, oil free
formula that is humidity/ sweat resistant.
This mean that it takes longer for the sweat (water/moister) to break
down the foundation. Thus, it last
longer and do not oxidizes as much as other foundations. Let me be clear on this it does oxidize on
me, but not as severely as some other brands such as L'Orels Truematch or
Revlon’s Photoready. It is transfer
resistant. It has a matte finish and
last on me with a primer for about 6-8 hours before I start to see my hyper-pigmentation scares, and around the 10-12 hour mark it shows more imperfections. I have never gone beyond wearing it more than
12 hours so I can’t attest to its 24 hour clam but it does last a full work day
and looks good on me when I put in on hour at the gym after work. Overall this
is a great foundation to have in your arsenal of foundations and is worth the
price and hype.
