PRODUCT REVIEW: Benefit Cosmetics How to Look the Best at Everything – Deep Kit

During one of my many trips to Sephora I stumbled across this four piece complexion kit from Benefit.  I thought it would be a great way to try out more Benefit products.  From their line I have tried the POREfessional (which I like), They’re Real mascara (Love, Love it), Watt’s Up highlighter, Benetint lip and check stain, BADgal Lash mascara, That Gal Bighting Face Primer, and the Coralista blush.

In the kit you get 4 sample size products for $32:
.025 oz. POREfessionals
.23oz Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Liquid Foundation SPF 25
 2 x .05 oz. Boi-ing concealer #04 & #05
.14 oz. Hello Flawless Powder SPF15

The kit comes in three shades Light, Medium, and Deep.  I will just start off by saying deep is not really deep.   Individually the foundation and powder line has shades darker then what the deep kit offers.  So that begs the question, why did not they go with four color choices and make a dark kit?  The only things I liked in this kit were the primer and the concealer. Now to the review:

POREfessional Primer:  I already know that I like the POREfessional primer so the other items were things I was looking to try.  Since I have a YouTube video on the primer I will just skip its review and just stay I love it.

Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Liquid Foundation & Hello Flawless Powder:  The stand alone liquid foundation and powder have 9 shades and 3 that are in the deep range with ‘Gotta Know Me’ Nutmeg being the deepest shade in the liquid and ‘Too Fierce to Beg’ Nutmeg for the powder.  In the kit, Amber is the shade they give you and on me it is very light, almost ashy on my deep skin.   The foundation is oil free and has an SPF of 25.  It is light to medium coverage and has a natural finish.    I have hyperpigmentation and it does not cover / conceal them.  The foundation lasted on me for about 3 hours before I became oily and completely broke down after 5 hours without tough-up either using translucent powder or shine eraser sheets.  The powder has light/sheer coverage.  The combination of the tow did not offset its lake of coverage or staying ability.

Boi-ing Concealer 04 & 05:  Right off the bat I really like this concealer.  The lighter shade #04 I used on my browns and as a highlighter under my eyes.  The darker shade #05 is closer to my natural skin color and I used it as a blemish concealer.  It has everything that I want in a concealer: coverage, smooth finish and lasting power.  I use it with other foundations and powers and I am still impressed.

OVERALL REVIEW:  I didn’t like the kit.  The powder and foundation is too light and the while coverage is buildable to medium it lacks staying power.  Additionally, the liquid foundation and powder combined doesn’t cover my hyperpigmentation like I want. The only way I was able to cover was using the lighters concealer because the darker concealer was too dark for the other two products.   I will say that the concealer and of course the primer are amazing.  Once I use up the sample product I plan to purchase both conceals and primer in their full size.
