Rimmel London Stay Matte Primer Review

I have had this for a few days and have been able to try it a few before writing this review.  First I want to refresh you memory on my skin type.  I have oily / combination skin.   I am oily almost year round especially around the T-zone and on the upper cheeks (right under the eyes)  During the winter the rest of my face goes normal but my T-Zone is oily.

So when I tell you it keeps my winter normal skin matte I was happy but not surprised. The test was the T-zone and cheeks.  My cheeks state matte for a good 5-6 hours before I had to do something about the shine.   The T-zone stayed shine free for about 3-4hours before shine started to appear and around the 5 -6 hour mark I was shining like Rudolf.  It broke through the foundation around the 6-7 hour mark.   I discovered that by dabbing my oily area with an oil absorbing cloth/town every 2 -3 hours I could stave off the foundation break down.

The primer comes out white and initially rubs into the skin transparent.  However if you let it sit there for 3-5 min you will notice a white cast.  Similar to what you get when you use Milk of Magnesia, just not as bad.  Since I am covering it with a foundation it’s not a hindrance nevertheless I can’t say that lighter skin tones will notice this but deeper skin tones will.  The foundation is smooth the tough and almost feels like silicone.

Overall it is a good matte primer for combination / oily skin.  I will have to come back and give you an updated when the warmer months come and I use it during Texas heat.  To me that is the true test.  But for my winter skin, it keeps my skin relatively matte and made foundation application smooth and easy to apply.

Let me know if you have tried this primer.

Catch you later,
